Rubbed Sage – How to Make Your Own Rubbed Sage

The process of making Rubbed Sage is easy. You have only one ingredient, fresh sage leaves. You can buy from someone, or grow your own and pick them yourself. Now you have to choose a method to dry the leaves. If you don’t want to wait too long for them to dry, you can dry them in your oven or dehydrator. You can also dry the leaves on the sun. Or you can hang them for 4-6 weeks in a cool and dry place.

Whichever you choose, the result must be some dry and crispy sage leafs. Now divide the quantity leafs into smaller doses, so it will be easier for your to rub them with your hands. To make your efforts minimum, you can use a colander. Place the first dose of leafs on the bottom and rub the leafs with your fingertips. Put the colander over a bigger bowl. Because the Rubbed Sage powder will fall out of the colander. Or you can rub it with your hands, and then pick out the bigger pieces.

I recommend the colander version. Because it is quicker, and the result will be a very smooth powder.

The Rubbed Sage will be usable for up to one year. But you have to store it well in a jar or a metal container. Also store it in cool and dry places, guarded by sun-light.
