This meditation should be practiced with a straight spine. Therefore, you have to practice it in a cross-legged position, or on a chair that supports your spine.
Vedic Meditation is everything that the other meditations are not. It doesn’t require a focus point or a guiding sound. It doesn’t require visualization.
So, find a quiet place, and get ready. Prepare your chair, or some pillows, depending on the position you find more comfortable. Now close your eyes. The only thing you have to do, is to do nothing. Let the thoughts come and go. Don’t focus on your thoughts. Just observe them and let them flow away. This meditation is as natural as it can be. Stay in this state of peace and nothingness as long as you wish. With daily practice, you will be able to stay longer and go deeper. This meditation will easily lead to the state of mindfulness.
You can use a mantra, to help your mind to relax. ‘Om’ is the most simple mantra for Vedic Meditation. It has a very soothing and relaxing resonance. It will help your mind to get quieter. And to reach deeper states of consciousness.
